    • this is a great collaboration tool that can be used in multiple ways with your students. There are word, spreadsheet, presentations that can be used for in-class and group work activities. It is a great way to promote collaboration and track conversations and ideas generated in small group work. (Liz Meyer)

    • this is a social bookmarking site that allows you to track websites and tag them to share with your students and anyone else who may 'follow' you. This link will bring you to my site and if you click on 'curriculum' or 'lessonplans' it will show you a few of my recently tagged sites related to K-12 education. (Liz Meyer)

    • A free website that allows you poll a class with multiple choice or open-ended questions to which individuals or groups can respond by text messages or online. Results can be displayed instantly. Pros: Quick and easy to set up; great for formative assessments or sparking discussion on a given topic. Cons: may highlight inequities or conflict with school policies about cell phones; also may result in inappropriate comments. (Bryan Rebar)

Spring 2013 - Showcase topics

  • Tools and resources from other Digital Ambassador and Google Faculty Institute initiatives. See the resources page for a summary of some of the resources discussed. (Liz Meyer)

  • Improving assessments with digital tools:
    • Liz Meyer - iPads (iAnnotate), DropBox, and using Rubrics and marking guides on PolyLearn. Based on info shared in a CTLT tech showcase presentation by Jerusha Greenwood See Prezi here.
    • Presented on how to create an 'assignment' in PolyLearn for online submission of files
    • Download all files as zip and store in DropBox
    • Open up iAnnotate app and sync with DropBox
    • Open individual files and mark up with stylus & embed audio notes (must open annotated file in Adobe reader to hear audio notes)
    • Submit feedback via PolyLearn using a marking guide or rubric and attaching annotated files. You can watch YouTube videos created by the CTLT describing these tools in detail: Part 1 & Part 2
    • We also briefly discussed the tool Evernote (evernote.com, also available as apps on multiple platforms) to organize and keep track of various projects and information by tagging websites, emails, images, etc.
